| Step 1 - Denatured Alcohol, and an old soft rag. Wipe with your moistened rag, along the length of the rear and fore grip. To lift the old dirt and grime. TIP: Never use sandpaper, or steel wool to clean your grips with. Sandpaper will change the shape of your grips, steel wool will cause the fillers to come out and give you a pitted look to your grip. | ||

| Step 2 - Now that you have cleaned your grips, let them sit and dry thoroughly. NOTE: There are many myths about using Denatured Alcohol on cork grips, that it's use would cause the epoxies to loosen and cause the rings to decay. Not true (the alcohol evaporates to fast, and cannot saturate the cork rings). I have been cleaning my custom rod grips this way for over 15 years with no problems. |

| Step 3 - Time to seal the cork. If you haven't already purchased some, U-40 Cork Seal® is the product that I use on my grips |

| Step 4 - Once you have your cork seal. Get a small brush with fairly course bristles, I use a throw away hobby type brush for applying my sealer. Now your going to apply the seal while turning the rod, whether you use electric power or hand turn you must turn the rod to apply the sealer to the front and rear grips. (No need to turn the rod at high speed!). You do not need a flooding coat, as the excess will dry as thick spots or runs, on the grips. Just fill the brush with enough sealant and lay it on the grips as it turns. MORE IS NOT BETTER One good coat will, give the cork grips a good seal, and provide the grips enough protection to last a few seasons. |

| You will only need to wipe your grips down with a wet towel to remove the dirt and grime build up. "If you have done these steps correctly." | ||

| Now it is time to let the grips dry. I recommend hanging the rod from it's tip on a cup hook, (If you have a vertical rod rack you can use it, just keep the wet sealed grip from touching anything). Hang it for about two (2) hours and you are done. | ||
